Pre-Adoption Checklist: The Final Step

Preparing your foster for their forever home.

The adoption day is an exciting milestone! To ensure your foster cat or kitten is 100% ready for their new life, we ask all carers to complete this final checklist before the scheduled collection time.

Our goal is a seamless hand-over: where the new owners feel confident, the kitten feels secure, and all administrative requirements are met. Please review the following sections before your adopter arrives.

Please ensure you fill this form out 24-48 hours before collection.

1. Health & Medical Final Check

Before any animal leaves our care, they must be in peak condition. Please verify the following:

  • Preventative Treatment: Ensure flea and worming treatments are up to date and recorded.

  • Health Observation: The kitten must be showing no signs of illness (no sneezing, clear eyes, and normal energy levels).

  • Weight Check (kittens only): Note down a final "departure weight" for the new owners to help them track their growth.

  • Medical Records: The adoption team handle all of the vet records and will email these over to the adopter. Some foster carers prefer to hand hard copies to the adopter on the day, if you wish to do this please contact the admin team.

2. The "Transition Pack"

A familiar scent makes a world of difference in a new environment. Please prepare:

  • Scent Item: A small blanket or toy that smells like your home to provide comfort during the first few nights.

  • Food Transition: A small sample of the food they are currently eating to prevent tummy upsets during the switch.

  • Information Sheet: Any specific notes on their likes, dislikes, or favourite hiding spots. We provide the adopter with a handy adopter’s pack which will be sent via email.

3. The Hand-Over Experience

You are the expert on this cat or kitten! When the new owners arrive, please:

  • Review the Basics: Briefly discuss their current feeding schedule and litter habits.

  • Safety First: Ensure the adopter has a secure, hard-shell carrier for transport. We cannot allow kittens to leave without a safe carrier.

  • Final Goodbyes: Take a moment to say goodbye! You’ve done an amazing job preparing them for this moment.

Important Note

If you notice any sudden change in health (lethargy, diarrhoea, or sneezing) in the 24 hours leading up to adoption, please contact Amanda immediately. It is better to postpone a collection by a few days than to send a sick kitten to a new home.

Please complete the form below to provide our admin team with a final update on your foster’s health and treatment history. This ensures our records are 100% accurate before they head to their new home. Additionally, submitting this form serves as official confirmation that the adoption collection has taken place.
